Review of Standards – Feedback Welcomed

Following a successful first year for EnviroDevelopment, UDIA (Qld) has commenced a review of Version 1.1 of the EnviroDevelopment Standards.

To ensure that EnviroDevelopment standards continue to set a sufficiently high target, it was envisaged that EnviroDevelopment would be periodically reviewed as required to ensure that the requirements are appropriate with progressions in new technology, regulation or practices. In light of changes to Queensland legislation, community expectations and the certification of seven projects, the standards review will ensure that EnviroDevelopment continues to inspire and reward high performing sustainable developments.

The EnviroDevelopment Technical Standards Taskforce will be reconvened early in the new year, with the revised standards expected to be released in the first half of 2008.

UDIA welcomes feedback from its members regarding the current standards and suggested improvements. Hard copies of the EnviroDevelopment Standards are available from UDIA (Qld) or can be downloaded from: http://www.envirodevelopment.com.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=6 .

Please send comments to kchessher@udiaqld.com.au by Friday 1st February 2008.

Announcing 5th Trial Project

The 5th EnviroDevelopment trial project has been announced – Redland Bay Leisure Life (PETRAC GROUP) – adding a medium density model to the trial phase.

Redland Bay Leisure Life is the final trial project to be announced and joins Pacific Harbour (QM Properties), The Ecovillage (LandMatters), Coomera Waters (Austcorp) and Mebbin Springs (Property Marketing), in proceeding through the certification processes in advance of the EnviroDevelopment public launch in a few months time.

The trial phase is an essential component to the roll-out of the initiative as it allows for possible improvements and streamlining of the certification model to occur prior to it being presented to industry for public use.
